Grand Casino de Monaco

Built in 1863 in the Principality of Monaco, overlooking the Mediterranean, this architectural masterpiece has been the scene of Monte Carlo's finest hours, spawned prestigious resorts and provided gaming with its most elegant setting.

Grand Casino de MonacoDesigned by Charles Garnier, the legendary architect who also built the majestic opera house in Paris, the Monte Carlo Casino was dedicated from the outset to the art of gaming.

The Casino has 5 different rooms:

Atrium

In 1878, the architects Charles Garnier and Dutrou built in just 7 months an opera house and the first European casino in Monte Carlo . Dutrou was in charge of the Atrium room. He created a magnificent vestibule with columns supporting a gallery with balustrades. 2 huge panels from Jundt were later to complete the gallery's décor and creating a perfectly harmonious ensemble. The games played at the Atrium are Slot Machines.

Salon de l'Europe

This is the first gaming room opened in Monte Carlo. Reconstructed at the end of the 19th century by Henri Schmit, the Salon de l'Europe replaced the old Salle Mauresque created in 1878 by Charles Garnier. Still intact are its frescos inspired by the four seasons and the beautiful countryside surrounding Monaco, its sculptures and paintings, its early 20th century carpet, and the 8 monumental chandeliers made of pure bohemian crystal.

The games played at the Salon de l'Europe are European Roulette, English Roulette and Trente et Quarante.

Salle Blanche

This room was originally intended to be used as a conversation room when it was built in 1903, but also became a gaming room. The Salle Blanche's décor includes the painting 'The Florentine Graces', painted by Gervais. The room was renovated in 1991 and, since then, has been home to the slot machines.

Salle Touzet

There are 2 rooms and their décor blends into a delicate harmony emphasizing the precious woods and large paintings. Opened in 1890; the year in which the magic of electricity lit the Monegasque gaming rooms for the first time, the rooms designed by architect Jules Touzet were not completely decorated when the players took possession of them. A few sculptural improvements later; in 1891, the magnificent rooms were completed. Although they were renovated in 1988, their spirit remained the same.

The games played at the Salle Touzet are Black Jack and Craps.

5. Salle Médecin

The Salle Médecin is located in the east wing of the Casino, via the restaurant 'Les Privés' built on its terrace and whose large picture windows afford splendid views of the Cap-Martin.

The Salle Médecin, named after the architect François Médecin, is also known as the Salle Empire because of the mahogany engraved with gold and the wall hangings. Opened in 1910, this room was home to a private gaming room that ensured total privacy for the big players. Nowadays, 3 adjoining small, but luxurious gaming rooms provide the much sought-after privacy.

Games played at the Salle Médecin are European and English Roulette, Trente et Quarante, Chemin de Fer, Banque à deux tableaux and Punto Banco.

Café de Paris Café de Paris

Monte Carlo's first café was originally called the Café Divan. It became the Café de Paris and went through many transformations until the art deco style triumphed in the 1930s. It immediately became a favorite place amongst Monaco's smart set.

In 1988, the Café de Paris; magnificently renovated, celebrated its 120th anniversary and modernized gaming rooms covering some 13,000 meter. The new gaming rooms are inspired by the various Historic Grand Prix.

Games played at the Café de Paris are Black Jack, American Roulette, Craps, Slot Machines and Video Poker.

Monte Carlo Sporting Club & Casino

In 1999, the Club was modernly renovated. In a luxurious yet sociable ambience, people come here to gamble, to enjoy an excellent meal, to relax, to dance, or to applaud the stars of international showbiz in the Salle des Etoiles.

The sea-view Salle des Palmiers is enjoying its second youth with American and European games and private gaming rooms.

The games played at the Sporting Club are American and European Roulette, Trente et Quarante, Chemin de Fer, Banque à deux Tableaux, Punto Banco, Slot Machines and Video Poker.

Sun Casino

Opened in 1975, its creation was of immediate interest to the players keen on Black Jack, American Roulette and Craps. These games are still popular alongside 300 slot machines divided between the main room and the grand Jackpot, including the 'Colossus'; the most colossal machines to be found in Monaco.

During 2001, the Sun Casino's décor had been transformed along the lines of a circus theme.

The games played at the Sun Casino are Black Jack, American Roulette, Craps, Stud Poker, Slot Machines and Video Poker.
