Transportation

By air

The Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport, 24 km from Monaco, links the Principality with all the major cities of the world in the shortest possible time.

Helicopters, buses, taxis and car services provide permanent links between the airport and the Principality. If you want to arrive in style, Heli Air Monaco will bring you by helicopter from Nice Airport (regularly-scheduled services or by charter), the duration of the flight is 7 minutes.

Bus

There are bus services to Nice and Cannes, via the Low and Middle Corniches, from 6 am to 1am and also in the direction of Menton, Italy and the nearby villages.

Monaco's urban bus system has 5 permanent routes and they will take you to all the tourist spots:

1 - Monaco-Ville, Monte Carlo, Saint Roman and return
2 - Monaco-Ville, Monte Carlo, Exotic Garden and return
3 - Railway station, Monte Carlo, Larvotto beaches and return
4 - Railway station, Fontvieille, Hospital and return
5 - Larvotto beaches, Fontvieille and return

If you want to get back to your hotel after 9 pm, however, you'll need to catch a taxi. Be impressed by the escalators and public lifts linking city streets.

Public lifts

Monte Carlo is very hilly, so its perfect for those of you not into walking or handicapped, that there are public lifts that will take you up street by street.

7 are currently in use:

1	between the Place des Moulins and the beaches
2	between the Princess Grace Hospital Centre and the Exotic Garden
3	between the harbor and the Avenue de la Costa
4	between the Place St. Dévote and the area of Moneghetti
5	between the Terraces of the Casino, the Congress Centre Auditorium and the Boulevard Louis II
6	between the Avenue des Citronniers and the Avenue Grande-Bretagne
7	between the highway and the Larvotto Boulevard

Train

The Monaco-Monte Carlo (SNCF) railway station is a stop for many international trains. The railway is a rapid means of communication between the Principality and all the cities in the Côte d'Azur from Cannes to Menton. Trains to and from Nice run regularly and last approximately 25 minutes.

Car/Car hire

The A8 highway, which connects the European highway system, serves Monaco with easy access roads. Local travel is provided by 3 major roads: the Low, the Middle and the Great Corniches.

2 main taxi stands are in operation round the clock at the Avenue de Monte-Carlo (near the Casino) and the railway station. 4 supplementary taxi stands: Place des Moulins, Avenue de la Costa, Fontvieille, Beach Plaza.

There is much to see in the Monaco region, so if you arrive by plane it is a must to hire a car. There are many car rental companies in Monaco which can provide you with the car you like.

Boat Travel

The 2 harbors of the Principality, the Condamine (Port Hercule harbor) and Fontvieille, are equipped to handle yachts of all weights and sizes while intercontinental cruise liners are able to anchor in the Port Hercule bay of Monaco.
